Grove Park Time

Proudly behind the times when it comes to Arts & Crafts, there’s always something new along with the familiar at the Arts & Crafts Conference in Asheville. This year’s fete at the Grove Park Inn includes a talk by Stickley Museum historian Mike Danial on a subject he has researched for years, “In Defense of Leopold Stickley.” Daniel Lees will present his findings on a subject often overlooked, “Artistic Leather of the Arts & Crafts Era.” Be sure to check out the house tours in such historic neighborhoods as Albemarle Park and Montford, led by the Asheville Preservation Society, especially if you’ve missed them in the past. Special exhibits include “Mr. Stickley’s Textiles,” from the collection of Craftsman Farms. As ever, you can shop for the finest antiques and contemporary crafts as part of the event.
