This whimsical style appeared in the Los Angeles area in the early 1920s. Storybook style houses are unusually well crafted, of brick and stucco, shingles and even thatch. Overlapping with the later years of the Arts & Crafts movement and relying on old European forms, Storybook houses sometimes have A&C details.
