Cobre — meaning “copper” in Spanish — is an art form dating back to the pre-Columbian times of Central Mexico. The hand-hammered copper is made from reclaimed material that has been fairly traded since 1994. The art form is in those of the Arts & Crafts and Mission styles. Long ago, the process was used to make weapons as well as housewares, but today, our company and the local artisans of Central Mexico with whom we team up create only the most beautiful of domestic implements, such as vases, sinks, trays, and bowls.
Each piece is made by hand from patterns and single pieces of copper – no molds are ever used! Using the traditional bonfire method, a distinct patina is created and every piece has a “living” finish — meaning it will change naturally over time and with amount of use.
