California Ranch

The California Ranch was the result of a conscious attempt by 1930s architects in the Southwest to create a contemporary house based on regional forms, which were essentially Spanish. These vernacular, ground-hugging houses with deep eaves have more in common with the preceding California Bungalow than they do with ranch houses built in tracts after World War II.
